This 2-day tour takes you to two of Peru’s most iconic destinations.
On the first day, you’ll depart early from Cusco for a train ride to Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes). From there, a bus will take you to the majestic citadel of Machu Picchu, where you’ll enjoy a guided tour to explore its temples, plazas, and terraces, with free time to take photos and explore on your own before returning to Cusco in the afternoon.
On the second day, you’ll embark on an excursion to the Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca), with a challenging but rewarding hike through stunning Andean landscapes. Upon arrival, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the vibrant mountain, a unique natural phenomenon. After the hike, you’ll return to Cusco, thus concluding two days full of adventure and natural beauty.
ITINERARY
DAY 01: TOUR TO MACHU PICCHU
Start: 4:00 a.m. / End: 10:00 p.m.
The Machu Picchu day trip begins early in the morning with a bus ride from Cusco to Ollantaytambo, a picturesque Andean town where you board the train to Aguas Calientes. This train ride, which passes through spectacular scenery, takes you to the foot of the mountain where Machu Picchu is located. Upon arrival, you will meet your guide and board the 25-minute bus ride to the majestic Inca citadel. For approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, you will enjoy a guided tour in which you will explore key points such as the Temple of the Sun, the Sacred Plaza, the Sacred Rock, a monolith of ceremonial importance, and the impressive Terrace of the Water Mirrors. You will also tour the Royal Residence and the Temple of the Three Windows, each revealing the architectural and spiritual knowledge of this ancient civilization. After the visit, you will return to Aguas Calientes for lunch, before taking the train back to Ollantaytambo and continuing by bus to Cusco, completing a day full of history, culture and unforgettable landscapes.
DAY 02: TOUR TO VINICUNCA MOUNTAIN
Start: 04.00 a.m. / End: 04.30 p.m.
The Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain day trip will take you through stunning Andean landscapes until you reach this vibrant natural destination, known for its spectacular shades of red, pink, green and yellow. Throughout the hike, you will enjoy panoramic views of glaciers, valleys and local fauna, culminating at the top of Vinicunca, where you can contemplate one of the most amazing geological phenomena in the world. This experience is perfect for nature and adventure lovers.
